Why Quran is the World's best book
Published: 29 March 2026
Every person has a favorite book, but when Muslims say the Qur’an is the world’s best book, we mean something much deeper. We believe it is the actual speech of Allah, revealed as guidance and mercy for every human being until the end of time.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
ذَٰلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۛ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
“This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah.” (Qur’an 2:2)
This verse immediately sets the Qur’an apart from any human book: no doubt in it, and guidance for those who truly want to live with taqwa.
The Qur’an Is the Best Speech
The Qur’an is the direct word (kalām) of Allah, not the thoughts or writings of any human being. That is why its status is above all other speech.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The best of the speech is the Book of Allah, and the best of the guidance is the guidance of Muhammad.” (Sahih Muslim 867)
In another hadith, he ﷺ said:
“The superiority of the words of Allah over all other words is like the superiority of Allah over His creation.” (Sunan al‑Tirmidhi 2926)
These hadiths show that if you are looking for the highest, purest, and most beneficial speech, you will find it in the Qur’an.
Guidance for Every Part of Life
A truly great book should help us with our biggest questions: Who am I? Why am I here? How should I live? The Qur’an answers all of these questions and gives a complete way of life.
Allah says:
إِنَّ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَهْدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ
“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright…” (Qur’an 17:9)
It guides us in belief, worship, character, family, money, justice, and how to treat other people. It calls to what is most upright in every area: tawhid, honesty, mercy, patience, fulfilling trusts, and standing against oppression.
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
“The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” (Sahih al‑Bukhari, Book of the Virtues of the Qur’an)
This shows that the real honor of a believer is to live with the Qur’an, not just to respect it from a distance.
Healing and Mercy for the Heart
We live in a time of stress, anxiety, and confusion. One of the greatest proofs that the Qur’an is the world’s best book is how it heals the heart and gives real inner peace.
Allah says:
“O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord, and a healing for what is in the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.” (Qur’an 10:57)
And He says:
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
“And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers…” (Qur’an 17:82)
The Prophet ﷺ described how tranquility (sakīnah) descends when the Qur’an is recited. In a famous hadith, a companion was reciting Surah al‑Kahf at night when a cloud of calm descended, and the Prophet ﷺ explained:
“That was as‑Sakīnah (tranquility) which descended because of the recitation of the Qur’an.” (Sahih al‑Bukhari, Book 61)
No other book brings this unique combination of guidance, emotional healing, and spiritual tranquility.
A Book That Lifts People and Nations
The Qur’an does not only change individuals, it has also transformed entire societies. It took people lost in ignorance and tribalism and turned them into a community known for justice, knowledge, and mercy.
When people connect deeply with the Qur’an, their priorities change. They become more honest in business, more gentle at home, more sincere in worship, and more concerned about the poor and oppressed. The Prophet ﷺ summarized this uplift when he said:
“Allah raises some people by this Book and lowers others by it.” (Sahih Muslim, in the chapter on the virtues of the Qur’an)
Because the Qur’an is Allah’s final revelation, its guidance, healing, and transforming power will remain until the Last Day. This is why it truly deserves to be called the world’s best book.
May Allah make us among the people of the Qur’an, those who recite it, reflect on it, and live by it every day.
